HUMAN STEW, “MOISTURIZING MITTENS” AND MORE! HERE’S HOW TO SPA AT HOME

Since we’re all stuck in the house, why not take some time to pamper yourself? You may not be able to go to the spa, but it’s easy to create a spa-like atmosphere in your own home. Here’s how you can do it…

JANUARY JONES’ DETOX BATH

A lot of celebrities have been taking to social media showing off their #selfcare routines during quarantine. One of my favorites is January Jones, who shared how she creates her at-home detox bath (or “human stew” as she calls it – ha!)

Here’s what she added:

-Bubbles (we like this one because it’s safe for kids too)

Thieves Essential Oil

-2 cups epsom salt or sea salt

-Baking Soda (she dumped a ton in)

-Big splash of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

Soak for 20 – 30 minutes.

Of course, if you’re going to have a detox bath, why not go all out with creating the perfect atmosphere with some candles. Here are some of my faves…

MOISTURIZING MITTENS

With all the hand washing and hand sanitizer we’re putting on our hands, they are drying out BIG time. I tried a DIY hand mask the other night (avocado, olive oil and honey) but to be honest it didn’t really do much. Maybe my hands are too far gone. So, instead I created my own “moisturizing mittens” and it really helped (my husband can attest to this as well.) It’s really easy to do…

  1. Slather your hands in Organic Coconut Oil.
  2. Cover hands in zip lock bags (the gallon size works best in my opinion)
  3. Cover with socks. This keeps the coconut oil tight on your hands, plus adds some heat so it absorbs better.
  4. Watch an episode of your favorite show.
  5. Take your hands out and rub in the excess. Done.

It’s easier to do this if you have a buddy helping you with the socks, but it’s totally doable on your own. You can also use this technique on your feet!

FACE MASKS

When picking out your face mask there are a lot of things to consider. Are you trying to hydrate, detox, clear your skin, depuff, reduce wrinkles? There are a lot of them on the market so it can be tough to pick. I’ve come across a few roundups online, and really like the lineup Allure came out with. Feel free to check out their article on 24 Best Face Masks of All Time – I think you’ll find it helpful.

One of my personal favorites is the Rose Face Mask by Fresh. I’ve also heard great things about the F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Masque by Drunk Elephant.

I’m also a HUGE fan of the Foreo UFO and the masks that you can use with it. Don’t hate me, it is pricey… but I use it all the time. It’s worth the splurge.

THE A+ PATCH BATCH

A lot of you probably already have your favorite eye patches, but have you heard of these face patches? Full disclosure, I haven’t used them yet, but people are RAVING about the SiO Beauty patches and their ability to reduce wrinkles. The price point isn’t too high either – so I think it’s time I finally give these a try.

I’ve also linked some eye patches I like below if you’re looking to try something new.

I know this time can be stressful and strange, but try to look at all the positives that are going on in your life right now. Maybe it’s your health, your family, video chats with friends? Maybe it’s that detox bath you just set up! Either way I hope you’re doing alright and please know we’ll get through this together! Love you all.

Love, Lindsey
