EMBRACING THE CHANGE

I made a promise to myself that I was going to embrace my changing body throughout this pregnancy. It’s not about the weight gain or swollen ankles. It’s about keeping the little one that’s growing inside happy and healthy. And damnit if he wants more nachos I’m going to give them to him!

FAKE IT ‘TIL YOU MAKE IT

In all seriousness, it’s easier said than done. I live by the “fake it ’til you make it” motto, and in the case of this pregnancy I’ve been faking confidence until I actually felt it. I think it’s important to mention that while I don’t think any woman should obsess over their weight gain while pregnant, it’s absolutely OK to feel a little bummed when you continue to grow out of your clothes. It’s natural! It’s also natural to compare yourself to other picture perfect pregnant mamas out there. Remember… perfect lighting and the right angle can do wonders!

YOU’RE NOT ALONE

Don’t get down on yourself for being superficial, but don’t let it get the best of you either. Recognize that other mamas feel the same way and at the end of all this, you’ll have a perfect little baby in your arms. If you’re like me, the simple thought of holding your little one in your arms is enough to make you so happy you start to cry. I really hope the crying settles after he’s born!

PERKS OF BEING PREGNANT IN A SWIMSUIT

The biggest self-confidence challenge for me was hitting the pool in a swimsuit. The first time was for our friends’ after-wedding festivities – and I must’ve changed five times before heading out the door. The second was for a bachelorette party – and that proved to be a little easier. The final test was on our babymoon, and by that point I was ready to strut my big belly and swollen ankles.

The best part about being pregnant during swimsuit season is that you can let your belly hang out and it’s actually cute! So get that poolside snack and forget about sucking anything in. Trust me, it’s really nice!

CUTE MATENITY SWIMSUIT OPTIONS

I’m so thankful to be pregnant now rather than 20 years ago. There are so many more options now, especially in the swimwear section. Here are so adorable options I’ve found online to help get you through the summer months…
