5 ITALIAN JEWELRY TRENDS EVERYONE WILL BE WEARING IN 2019

I was invited by The Italian Trade Agency to attend the JCK and Premiere trade shows here in Las Vegas and I immediately said yes because I thought it would be a great opportunity to check out what new trends are popping up in the jewelry world.

Between May 30 and June 3, more than 110 Italian companies were exhibiting both at JCK and Premier.

Here is what I found…

This was my first time attending these particular trade shows, and the first thing I noticed was how HUGE it is! It’s one of the biggest jewelry trade shows in the world, and honestly it was a bit overwhelming!

There were so many beautiful pieces, from gems and jewels to dainty necklaces and everything in between. It took a few hours to take it in… but I think I’ve come up with a pretty good list of the jewelry trends we’ll be seeing pop up in the next few months.

So here we go…

HEART MOTIF

The heart motif is in full effect in the fashion world. Not just in fashion, but in jewelry too. I’m seeing everywhere in the form of rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Some are big and bold while others are more simple and subtle. Either way… this is a major trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

I found this Gilberto Cassola heart bracelet and didn’t want to take it off. It would be the perfect addition to my arm candy stack.

INSIGNIA PIECES

If it was good enough for Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, it’s good enough for me. Nameplate necklaces have been popping up on celebrities everywhere; from Jennifer Lopez to Rihanna and Kim Kardashian (just to name a few). Initial pieces are also making a comeback. While many people are rocking the first initial of their own name, I think it would be sweet to show off the initial of a loved one (I want an “O” to represent my son Ollie.) These pieces also look great layered with other necklaces.

These Initial necklaces are another favorite by Gilberto Cassola. Beautiful!

FLORAL SPARKLE

To be honest, I would wear floral jewelry even if it wasn’t on trend. There are plenty of simple dainty pieces out there, but I love how designers like Giorgio Visconti are putting their own spin on the flower form. The pieces are gorgeous, and actually very wearable for everyday.

RELIGIOUS JEWELRY

This started as a micro-trend last year, and it’s now popping up all over my Instagram feed. While some who choose to wear it are paying homage to their religious beliefs, others are wearing it as kind of a “wink” to their tradition. I’ve noticed a lot of Italian bloggers like Chiara Ferragni sporting this trend, and it was definitely one I spotted while at the JCK trade show. In particular, crosses and Saint Christopher pendants are extremely popular.

OVER THE TOP STATEMENT NECKLACES

To say I was blown away by the necklaces I saw by Amlè would be an understatement. The Italians definitely have a flare for all things beautiful, and this Italian Jewelry company is the perfect example of that. You can find hand -painted tambourines, terracotta heads, waxed fruit, and everything is hand-crafted to perfection. Amlè has a lot of celebrity admirers, Olivia Culpo included. I had the chance to meet the beautiful US rep, Daniela Atobelli at the JCK Trade Show as well as the incredibly talented Marco Ferra. He lives in Italy and travels the world styling Amlè. He has such a cool style and I could’ve listened to him talk forever!

This Amlè necklace was even featured in an issue of Vogue Magazine!

OTHER FAVORITES

These pieces aren’t necessarily “trendy”, but gorgeous nonetheless.

I absolutely loved the handbags and colorful earrings by Graziella Braccialini. The bags were so unique and had a personality of their own. I also had to try on some of their earrings because they matched my outfit 🙂

Another Italian Jewelry line I’m absolutely amazed by is I Bello. The art of this craftsmanship has been passed down from generation to generation, and it’s amazing what they can do. They engrave cameos into the backs of shells, completely transforming them into beautiful masterpieces. I’m in love!
