4 THINGS I’M MOST GRATEFUL FOR THIS YEAR

mom blogger, thankful, things I'm thankful for, things I'm grateful for, Las Vegas blogger, Lindsey Gurk, Lindsey Simon, the nomis niche,

There’s a lot I have to be thankful for, but if I had to break it down… these are the people and moments that top my list! Read on for the 4 things I’m most grateful for this year…

#1 MY SHMOOP AND BUTTER BEAN

Mike (My Shmoop) and Ollie (Butter Bean) are my entire WORLD. When life gets overwhelming, stressful, or sad, I try to remind myself that even if the whole world falls apart, I will still have these two.

I mean… Ollie still pitches a fit when I tell him he can’t eat rocks or drink hand sanitizer, and Mike needs to be reminded that he doesn’t have to worry about everyone and everything… but the truth is they make me laugh, they make me feel loved, and they teach me how to be a better person every single day.

They are my greatest gifts, and I thank God for both of them every single day.

Here’s a picture of us at the pumpkin patch. I crack up at this photo because Mike was sitting behind us and the angle makes him look like he’s half my size.

#2 MY (EXTENDED & BLENDED) FAMILY

Yes, I have a little family of my own now, but I’m also so grateful for the family I grew up with, the family I’ve gained since marrying my husband, and the “friends family” we’ve found throughout the years.

My “friends family” build me up when I’m feeling down. They encourage me to go after crazy dreams and they ALWAYS SHOW UP for the important moments.

My in-laws are also a God-send because not only does my mother-in-law watch Ollie while I work and on date nights, but she’s also my sounding board and helps me navigate this crazy journey of motherhood.

As for the family I grew up with… they laid the foundation for who I am today. I always felt loved, protected, and free to speak my mind. My parents specifically always encouraged me to be myself and taught me what is “popular” isn’t always right (I have a lot of stories on how they taught me this, but that’s for another post).

#3 THE PEOPLE I’VE WORKED WITH

Being a blogger, a lot of the time you don’t often get to meet the people/brand you collaborate with. It’s mostly emails or phone calls. While I never work with a person/brand I don’t believe in, sometimes it can seem a bit impersonal. Face to face is important to me, and I feel like it helps me create better content for you.

One of my goals for 2019 was to work with more local businesses so I can have that type of connection, which in turn leads to better content. Fashion Show Las Vegas is one group that I’m particularly grateful for.

Not only are the people at Fashion Show incredibly helpful when it comes to creating content (as seen here, here, here and here), they’ve also become a little “blogging family” for me. We’ve had dinners to check in with one another, they call me on the phone to help me come up with content ideas, they’re always willing to help with photos, and are just a group of women I look up to in general.

#4 ALL OF YOU

I hope you all know that I would NOT have continued this blog if it wasn’t for your support. I started this little corner of the internet as a way to share my “outfits of the day” at a time where I was a pretty low. At the time, I was at a dead end with my job, my mom was sick, and I was feeling somewhat “lost.” You helped me feel like I was part of a community, and for that I am forever grateful.

You were there during the happiest times of my life and the toughest as well. Marriage, major losses, pregnancy, birth, motherhood, and everything in between.

You all have helped me more than you know. Every comment and DM… I read them all! Thank you for letting me be part of your life and for being such a big part of mine.

Cheers to the new year my friends!

Love, Lindsey
