A SECOND TIME MOM’S GUIDE FOR WHAT TO PACK IN YOUR HOSPITAL BAG

Second time around… let’s do this!

Oh the wonderful hospital bag. It’s kind of a milestone in your pregnancy. I just finished packing ours and it looks a little different than the first. There are some things I didn’t include this time, and a few added items as well. Here’s what’s we’re packing for round two!

P.S. I’m packing our things in these adorable MAMA and BABE bags from Ingrid & Isabel. I also have their MAMA denim jacket, camo jacket, and a BABE jacket for my 2-year old.

FOR BABY

Onesies: The hospital usually provides some onesies for you to borrow during your stay, but I also wanted to bring some of our own. I packed two just in case.

Swaddles: Again, something the hospital provides, but I thought it might be nice to have something from home. We packed this Miracle Blanket Swaddle that my son used as well as this one from Solly Baby (I love their wraps as well!)

Two Outfits: I packed this really cute outfit from from Newborn Nest for an announcement photo and this cream layette set from Mebie Baby for her going home outfit.

Bonnets / Bows: I packed three bows. It’s my first girl, I had to!

Car Seat: OK, this one doesn’t fit in the bag, but you definitely don’t want to forget it! We love the Doona because it’s a carseat, carrier, and stroller all in one! We call it the transformer because with one push of a button we can roll the wheels out or in. It’s amazing!

FOR MOM

Dark Robe: A must. I have a black one that’s really comfortable. Great for recovery.

Nursing Friendly Outfits: I brought nursing friendly nightgowns last time and felt uncomfortably underdressed the whole hospital stay. I know that sounds crazy considering how exposed I was during the birth, but still. Instead of a nightgown I’ll be wearing nursing friendly camisoles and loose sweatpants/leggings.

Slides: Slides or flip flops are good for walking around the hospital room and to wear in the shower. I love this black pair.

Heating Pad: I used a heating pad during the beginning of my contractions and it was so helpful. It also felt great to have one on my back (I have back labor) during recovery.

Extra Long Phone Charger: You never know where the plug will be!

Toiletries: Contact lens case and solution, glasses, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, floss, Q-tips, hair brush, dry shampoo, hair ties,

Minimal Makeup: Oh Lord… I brought way too much last time! I’ll probably only bring some concealer, an eyebrow pencil, mascara, and my blush stick this go-round. I like to wear a little bit on our way home because it makes me feel a little put together.

Treats for the nurses: These nurses are angels. A few “thank you” snacks is the least I could do!

Going home outfit: I packed these joggers and tank from Bae the Label (along with a matching bow for baby girl. Yay!)

Driver’s License

Insurance Cards

FOR DAD

Snacks: Nothing too crunchy though! For some reason the sound of crunching chips during my pregnancy puts me over the edge. It did with my last pregnancy too. Granola/protein bars, gummy candies (love these lower-sugar options), bananas, beef jerky… I don’t care what he eats as long as it isn’t noisy ahaha!

iPad: For entertainment. Why not?

Two changes of clothes.

Love, Lindsey
