CREATING OUR 2018 CHRISTMAS CARD

I’ve been looking forward to this year’s Christmas Card for a VERY long time. It’s the first one as a family of three and I’m so excited to share it with you all!

OUR CHRISTMAS CARD STORY

Last year was the very first year The Shmoop and I sent out Christmas Cards.  It was also a  pregnancy announcement and I couldn’t wait to share the news with everyone! (You can check it out here). This year is even better because we finally have our baby and let’s be real… babies ALWAYS make Christmas Cards way better.

WHAT TO DO FOR OUR FIRST FAMILY CHRISTMAS CARD?!

The Shmoop and I talked about a bunch of different card options and I went cuh-ray-zay on Pinterest looking for inspiration. Did we want to go funny? Should we be in it or just have the baby? Are we going to coordinate outfits? In the end… we decided that our first Christmas card as a family should be clean and classic. I also couldn’t help but coordinate everyone’s outfits and made Mike buy a new pair of boots and scarf (he needed then anyways!)

P.S. We used photographer Ann Jackson to take our photos. She’s amazing and so sweet! She also takes great outfit photos and was able to cater her editing to my personal feed. So talented!

CREATING THE CARD

After the photos were taken, I hopped on Snapfish to create the card we wanted to send out. I’ve used Snapfish multiple times before (I’m still SO obsessed with our Sumer Memories book and look through it on the reg) so I knew the quality was great and delivery was fast.

I really liked the foil Christmas cards because they’re so elegant and add a little something extra while still looking clean and classic. If you haven’t used Snapfish before, let me tell you… it is probably the easiest process EVER! You just upload your photos and then type in what you want for the text and you’re done. Plus, you get envelopes with the return labels already on them.

You also have the option of creating a back on your cards. It’s a great feature when you have photos that you don’t want as the front, but still want to use. We totally took advantage of this feature and wrote a little something special for our friends and family.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE THANK YOU CARDS

We’re doing something new this year and also ordering some Thank You cards. We are so blessed to have our group of friends and family and they’ve done so much for us over this past year… we felt it was necessary to also send out a few thank-you’s as well. Everyone has been so generous, and sometimes just saying “thank you” doesn’t seem like enough. So, we created a separate card to send to people after the holidays letting them know how thankful we are  to have then in our lives. I also want to start teaching Ollie how important it is to tell someone “Thank You” for the gifts he receives. I know, I know… he can’t even talk yet… but you can never start too early when it comes to teaching the importance of gratitude!
