Hello friends! I wanted to try something different today. Since leaving my office job to work from home, my style is SO much more casual. But I haven’t forgotten what it was like trying to create work-appropriate outfits that weren’t boring. So for this post… I want to give some tips to all my hard working ladies out there!

#1 EMBRACE THE OVERALL DRESS TREND

This overall dress from Romwe is the perfect length for the office. I decided to pair it with a bow blouse underneath and snakeskin heels to make it a bit more feminine. You can also throw on a turtleneck and black sock booties like I did HERE if you’re going for an edgier look.

#2 ACCESSORIES ARE YOUR FRIEND

If you’re bored of wearing the same classic sheath dress over and over again, make it new again by accessorizing. A silk neck scarf and skinny belt can make all the difference. Adding a statement necklace and funky heels is another way to amp up your look. Leopard print is basically a neutral. Wear it in place of your usual black or nude pumps.

#3 SPICE UP A SIMPLE SILHOUETTE

If you wear a suit or pants and a shirt to work everyday here’s a simple way to spice things up… play with color and prints!

-Instead of throwing on the same old black slacks, opt for a printed pair. Houndstooth is a great print because it’s classic and goes with everything!

-Bow blouses are another great alternative to your average button down. They look great on everyone.

-There are also a lot of conservative jumpsuits out there that are great for work AND play. Just make sure they’re tailored to your body and not too tight. You can also wear a blazer with it to make it look even more professional.

#4 PLAY WITH COLOR

Color blocking is an easy way to add a little “pizazz”. This is also a great way to utilize those random pieces in your closet to create a fun and unique outfit. Here are some fall/winter color combos to try out, whether it’s a blouse and a pencil skirt or pants and a blazer, pants and a top, dress and shoes… whatever!

-Navy & Burgundy or Wine

-Navy & Emerald

-Navy & Pink (Bubblegum or Soft Pink)

-Navy & Teal

-Emerald & Eggplant

#5 PICK OUT YOUR OUTFIT THE NIGHT BEFORE

When you’re running late and rushing out the door the last thing you want to have to decide on is your outfit. Picking your outfit the night before will save you time and reduce stress in the morning (especially on Monday!) This will also allow you some extra time to get some breakfast in you. You need that brain food! #BossBabe

Hope that helps! What did you think of this post? Was it helpful? I want to know what YOU want to see here on The Nomis Niche. Leave a comment or shoot me an email (lindsey@thenomisniche.com) and let me know!

  1. Lovely tips! I´m still a student so I don´t have to worry about my style too much but these tips are definitely also appropriate in life general. Also congrats on keeping a style while working from home. If I did that my style would just be fluffy PJs 😀

Thanks Jamie! I’d normally wear it with a turtleneck or tee, but I figured the bow blouse was good for a work setting. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. Great tips! Planning definitely helps if you want to pull off a creative look for a rather conservative office environment.

  3. these are great tips! since I moved in to my new house I keep forgetting to accessorise hahaha go figure. thanks for sharing!

  4. When I was working in an office full of men, I found myself dressing more casual and not the way I wanted to dress. Being a female engineer in men dominated sector is not that easy. Love the tips you gave, especially playing with the colours. You look fab!
