Yes friends… for better or worse, eighties fashion is making a comeback this year.
WHO SAYS THE ’80S ARE BACK?
According to Pinterest analytics, this type of fashion has been one of the most re-pinned trends as of late, and it’s hit a peak in 2017. (Other trends they’ve seen peak in 2017 is the bell sleeve, off the shoulder tops and dresses and flared pants and pins).
Also, W Magazine did a whole spread on why 80s fashion is going to be THE biggest trend we see this year. And if you think about it… we should’ve seen this coming. Outside of fashion, we’ve seen a lot of ’80s nostalgia… Stranger Things was a huge hit on Netflix, Star Wars-mania is back, and old-school band t-shirts are everywhere!
So, how do you rock the style without looking dated? I choose to go the ’80s rocker route.
EIGHTIES ROCK VIBES
I’m a sucker for band tees (click HERE for more band-tee outfit inspo). I’ve had this Bowie tee from Forever 21 since last year and have rocked it multiple times (see how else I styled it HERE and HERE). It was accidentally shrunken in a washing machine mishap. But, I actually like it more now because it looks even better paired with some high-waisted jeans, like this striped pair from Zara.
Also, can we talk about these red booties for a quick sec? I found them by chance at Charlotte Russe, and they sold out within minutes online. Don’t worry. I’ve linked similar options below.
As for this denim jacket, I found it at Goodwill for $7. I spent the next few weeks ordering patches and pins that I loved and turned it into something that’s not only on trend, but very personal. I especially love the palm tree and flamingo pins from Forever 21. For more on this DIY jacket, including where I found the patches, click HERE).
So what do you think? Are you ready to rock th ’80s trend or nah?
