Here’s a fun fact, I’m 5’7” – but I have to buy petite pants and jeans. I have an incredibly long torso, and my legs are basically the same as a woman who clocks in at 5’3”.  So when the kick flare trend started to pick up speed I was hesitant. I was afraid they would make my legs looks shorter than they already are. Well friends… I’ve found a few tricks to make it work!

For one… choose a high waisted version. It elongates the legs. Just make sure to wear a shorter sweater or tuck in your blouse to show off the high waist cut. Also… wearing one color makes you look longer. I love all-black outfits because they’re simple, slimming and always stylish. One way to make your outfit a little more interesting is to mix fabrics.

Another tip is to make sure the kick flare hits just above the ankle. This is the most flattering hem. If they hit right above the ankle you can wear them with mules, heels, backless loafers and booties. Just make sure your booties hit a little above the hem.

I for one am so excited that there are different cuts, hems and styles of pants coming out. I don’t know about you… but I was getting a little tired of the skinny pants. Kick flares are a great alternative to your regular black slacks and add a little something extra to an ordinary outfit.

So what do you think? Are you diggin’ the kick flare trend? If so, how are you styling yours?

  3. Great outfit. You’re quite tall! I have a broad shoulders and a slightly shorter torso, so I often likely to wear things that legthen the torso, or wear pants/jeans lower on the hips.
