MY LONG LOVE AFFAIR WITH RINGS

I received my first “real” ring when I was 13 years old. By “real” ring I mean the ring you don’t get out of the 25 cent machine after grocery shopping. One that (gasp) wouldn’t turn your finger green! It was a white gold claddagh ring and I didn’t take it off for years. Honestly, I think I was 19 when I finally took it off, but that’s just because I gained the Freshman 15 and it didn’t fit that finger anymore.

That was the beginning of my obsession with rings. I never go anywhere without slipping at least one on my finger. Yes, now I have my wedding ring, but before that I would always stack a few on before leaving the house. If I ever went bare-fingered I felt someone “unfinished” if that made any sense. Like my outfit wasn’t complete.

WAYS TO STACK YOUR RINGS

As I said previously, there are a few different ways you can stack your rings. It all depends on the look you’re going for. Here are a few examples:

BOHEMIAN: Throw on all your turquoise and crystal rings with your favorite maxi dress. Think Nicole Richie.

EDGY: I love the look of three bold, statement making rings worn in a row. The more masculine and chunky the better. I personally like when this stacked look is worn with a more casual and minimalistic outfit. You don’t want to give off a “trying too hard” look #amiright?

FEMININE/MODERN: My personal favorite! I’m all about dainty rings that you can wear separately or stacked on top of one another. Midi rings are also another great way to stack rings without looking too overdone. The rings I’m wearing in this post (and for the past few weeks!) are from Michael Hill.

WHY MICHAEL HILL

I’m so happy I get to work with Michael Hill because they offer so many different elegant pieces. From engagement rings to charm bracelets, watches, and of course some killer rings.

Michael Hill has been around since 1979, and they still have an in-house team of master craftsmen to create their pieces. And while I know it seems crazy to start talking holiday gifts already, I honestly think these would make for some amazing gifts! I love giving jewelry to my sisters because it’s sentimental and hopefully they’ll be able to pass it on to their children someday. It’s not just a ring. It’s a future heirloom.

Speaking of gifts, I’m already starting to put some gift guides together. Any requests? I want to help you out as much as possible! Guys are always the tough ones on my list, especially my husband. I plan on doing a gift guide of past presents I’ve given The Shmoop that he says were his favorite. Would that help at all? Let me know!

Love, Lindsey
