FASHION THAT GIVES BACK

The last time I was at Downtown Summerlin we came across a bright and beautiful wall that served as the perfect “blogger backdrop”. This time around we found this incredibly inspirational wall that I knew I wanted to showcase. It’s filled with inspirational sayings and words of encouragement for the little ones dealing with life-threatening illness. So today, in addition to some outfit details (after-all, that’s why you’re here) I thought I could also share some ways YOU can join the fight to help end childhood cancer.

  1. Of course there’s the Make-A-Wish foundation which holds a place near and dear to my heart as it was my sorority’s philanthropy. To make a donation simply click HERE.
  2. Love Your Melon is an apparel company dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer. In addition, it helps raise money for non-profit organizations who help lead the fight. For every item you buy, one item is donated to a child in need. I wear my hat frequently and it’s always nice when someone asks what “LYM” means and you get to share the story with them as well.
  3.  For my Southern Nevada peeps, St. Jude’s Hospital is holding a run/walk this September. You can register HERE, and if you don’t live locally, you can always make a donation HERE.

While we’re on the topic of helping others out… why not shop while you do it?! It’s kind of the best of both worlds right? This bracelet is from Chloe and Isabel, which helps women create their own business and tackle their dreams. In addition, the woman I received this particular bracelet from gives 50% of her proceeds to charitable causes. Chloe and Isabel also offers “charity charms” where 20% of the proceeds go to iamthatgirl.com. Three cheers for fashion that gives back!

On to the outfit… If you follow me on Instagram you know how much I adore this shirt by Etienne Marcel. It’s definitely on the pricey side… but considering how many wears you can get out of it (I’ve worn it with cutoffs and around the waist) I feel like it’s a great investment piece.
