DIY STUDDED HEELS

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I was about to toss these old black heels when I came across a pair of studded heels online that I fell in love with. They’re Christian Louboutin – can you blame me? But instead of paying around $1,300, I thought… why not try and do a DIY version? Grabbed my keys and headed to the closest Hobby Lobby for supplies and this is what I came up with…

*Disclaimer… this will take you a little while to finish. It took me about two episodes of Scandal (yes, I timed it). But it’s not difficult, you just a little bit of patience and some good Chardonnay.

SUPPLIES:

  • An old pair of Black heels (I like pointed toe, but whatever)
  • Liquid Stitch Glue
  • 3 packages of PLAID iron-on nailheads
  • A silver sharpie or white-out pen (not pictured)

STEP ONE:

Take a silver sharpie or a white out pen and create little dots where you want your studs to go. This will help when you start actually gluing them on. TRUST ME… you do not want to skip this step.

STEP TWO: Now you can start gluing your studs on. I typically did one to four at a time. If they aren’t fitting exactly on your dots or where you’d like them to be… just move them around. Once the glue sets there’s no going back… so now is the time to fidget with it. IMG_6285

It’s OK if the glue comes out the sides of the studs. After the glue dries, just take a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol or water to get the dots / glue off.

STEP THREE: Just let the glue dry! I let mine sit overnight before wearing them. And they look pretty decent! If you have one or two studs out of place I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not like people are sticking their noses in your shoes to see any mistakes.

STEP FOUR: Do your best Naomi Campbell walk!
