The 4th of July is coming up, and while it’s completely acceptable to wear American flag print everything (I’ve done it), there are also some pieces that you can continue to wear long after Independence Day has come and gone. Here are a few Americana picks that you can wear all summer long…
A striped top is a must. You can wear them with just about everything in your closet! Plus, they make for great layering pieces. I bought this red striped top from Zara not too long ago because I loved the little ruffle sleeve detail. It adds a little modern twist on a classic staple.
TAILORED TROUSERS OR SHORTS
Any tailored trouser is worth the extra money. You’ll wear them for years to come. I personally think white pants are the perfect summer replacement for your typical black slacks. I wear these white trousers all the time! One styling tip? Have them tailored to hit right above your ankle. It’s the most flattering hemline and you can wear any type of shoes with them. I’ve paired mine with mules, flats, ankle strap heels and stilettos. They really are my favorite pair of pants!
CLASSIC SUMMER DRESS
In most parts of the country, 4th of July is blazing hot! Which makes a dress the perfect option for any backyard BBQ, pool party or any other party you may be going to. White dresses are always in style, but if you’re looking for something a little trendier, opt for an off the shoulder option or one with special details like embroidery or ruffles.
Truth be told, I actually have a tradition of wearing the same stars and stripes one-piece swimsuit every 4th of July. While I love it, I think it’s time to invest in one that I can wear all summer long. Luckily, there are a bunch of great star print and striped suits that would be perfect for the holiday, but you won’t feel weird wearing them all summer long.
I can’t finish this post without adding in my favorite accessory! Scarves and bandanas are the perfect addition to an outfit. Weather worn around your neck, as a headband, as a purse accessory or as a bracelet. They’re the best!
